Submission Guidelines

We are now accepting submissions for Issue 4: Valentines.

The theme for this issue is “Valentines.” We know Valentine’s Day holds different meanings for everyone, and we want to know what you think about it! Show us your favorite stories of date nights, Galentine’s get-togethers, breakups, etc.

We are happy to consider any type of work, but we will not consider works focused on geese. Don’t upset The Ducks. We value intentionality in submissions, and appreciate clear thought in creating your piece.

We ask that you avoid foul language when possible. No highly explicit content will be considered. The Ducks prefer nicety. If your piece promotes injustice against any group of people, it will not be accepted.

When we are accepting submissions, there will be a Google Form linked at the bottom of this page. Check our social media for more frequent updates!

  • Submissions must be uploaded to the Google Form in a PDF, doc, or docx document.
  • Prose should be double-spaced, poetry should be single-spaced.
  • Prose should be no more than 1500 words, and poetry should be no more than 2 pages.
  • You may submit up to 2 prose pieces or 5 poems in a single reading period. Anything past this will not be read.
  • If you are unable to comply with these guidelines for any reason, please email your submission to us with your name, a short bio of 150 words or less, and the title of your piece:

Other Information:

  • Simultaneous submissions are encouraged – we are writers too! If a piece is accepted elsewhere, please let us know immediately so that we can remove it from consideration.
  • There are no fees to submit. We are also not currently a paying magazine. We hope to be able to pay contributors in the future, but it is not possible at the moment. If you would like to help us reach our goal of paying contributors, you can help us here!
  • We request first publication rights and non-exclusive rights to keep the piece up on our site and in PDF form indefinitely. Other than that, rights to each piece revert back to the author immediately after publication and the author retains the copyright. We appreciate acknowledgment as the first to publish something if it is published somewhere else later on!
